Cheese Grotto: An invention and a product

Identifying a Market Need
I invented the Cheese Grotto in 2015 because I saw a need in the kitchenware and specialty cheese market. The Grotto, a cheese humidor, preserves cheese longer than other methods available, such as cheese paper, plastic wrap, and tupperware. It is also a preservation tool that earns natural cheese the same prestige as fine wine.

Product Development and Patent Protection
For two and a half years I worked with cheese specialists, product designers, product developers, lawyers, and manufacturers to create an ideal model.

Product Launch Strategy
I launched The Cheese Grotto in November 2016, right in time for holiday sales. The launch landed features in the NY Times, Vogue, and Saveur, among other media outlets. My focused press strategy was successful.

An E-Commerce and Retail Ecosystem
The Cheese Grotto is not just a product: it is the ecosystem and foundation of a larger business strategy to sell cheese-related products under a brand. I have overseen the development of the e-commerce and retail strategy for this brand. We’ve expanded the accessory line to accompany the Grotto, including three smaller models at retail friendly price points and an artisan cheese subscription service. Our customers rely on the brand expertise to learn everything about artisan cheese.
